The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Legacy Returns for 2027!

The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is back! The new 2027 C8 model was unveiled at the 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring IMSA race. This was the site where the Grand Sport legacy began in 1964. The original Corvette Grand Sport won its class with legendary race driver Jim Hall behind the wheel.  

For Corvette owners, the words “Grand Sport” illicit a reaction rooted in motorsports. The combination of high horsepower with a lightweight body and chassis yielded its share of podiums and trophies in the past 62 years.  

The Grand Sport edition of the eighth-generation Corvette starts a new chapter in engine development. While pushing the boundaries of performance, it retains a visceral feeling you expect from a Grand Sport. Mounted behind the cabin is the next-generation LS6 6.7-liter V8. The naturally aspirated engine is now rated at 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. While larger-displacement than the standard Stingray engine, the new V8 runs at a 13.0:1 compression ratio for sharper overall throttle response. A 95-millimeter throttle body and tunnel ram intake with high-velocity ports move more air to unlock additional power. 

The LS6 V8 also features a new lubrication system, forged pistons and rods, and revised exhaust manifolds. The entire engine is developed to ensure durability in extended high-load, high-temperature environments. An eight-speed dual clutch transmission is standard, along with rear-wheel drive.  

While staying true to its legacy of lightweight performance, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport offers modern enhancements for absolute excitement. Magnetic Ride Control is standard, along with a Touring Suspension. Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires will keep it on the tarmac.  

For those who seek more overall performance from their driving experience, an available Z52 Sport Performance Package adds stiffer suspension, Michelin Pilot Cup 4S summer tires, and J52 iron brakes from the Z06 to the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport. If you wish to take it to the next level, the Z52 Track Performance Package adds J57 carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, making it worthy of a run at Sebring, Mid-Ohio, or any challenging track. 

In a new twist, there will be a 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X. This takes the formula up a few notches, with the addition of an electric motor powering the front axle, along with the compact battery pack from the ZR1X. The all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X is rated at 721 horsepower.  

The exterior and interior of both the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X feature a heritage paint scheme, aerodynamic body enhancements, and special touches, making these performance icons even more desirable and distinctive.
