Chevy Trax Named To Car and Driver 10Best List

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is one of the best small crossover SUVs money can buy. While some automakers take advantage of customers by building a simple and small vehicle that doesn’t really have anything going for it besides perceived size and some modern technology, the Trax is different.  It is a unique platform for customers to spec their way with up to 8 fun exterior colors, like Cacti Green, Nitro Yellow Metallic, and Fountain Blue, and available, elegant front-end updates with slim LED headlights. It makes sense, then, that it has been named to Car and Driver’s 10-Best Trucks and SUVs for 2024. This year, the Trax is new and bolder than before. The 1.2-liter inline-3 engine punches above its weight with 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque and is both faster and more fuel efficient than the 4-cylinder engine it replaces in the previous generation Trax. 

Outdoing Itself And the Competition

When talking about how great the little Trax is for its size and price, The magazine said, “It outaccelerates its predecessor across the board … It also did better than the previous Trax on our highway fuel-economy loop, returning 30 mpg. The Trax is quieter than expected too, with standard active noise cancellation helping both at wide-open throttle and at a 70-mph cruise, where our reading of 69 decibels means it is just as quiet as a Lexus NX350.”

Base Price and Features

The base Trax LS starts at just $21,495 and features an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display, while some trims can be optioned with an 11-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a WiFi hotspot. The top Activ trim will only run buyers $24,995. All Trax models feature Chevy Safety Assist as standard, which features Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist. Cruise control is standard across the range and Adaptive Cruise Control is available as an option on certain trim levels.
