Top Tips To Keep Your Air Conditioning Cold For Summer

With summer arriving so quickly, the weather is getting warmer. Before you know it, it’ll be 90 degrees or more. This would be the absolute worst time for the air conditioning in your Chevrolet to not work as well, which is why we have put together a few ways to keep your summer running cooler while riding around in your car.

1: Have Your AC System Checked
For those with an older vehicle, your AC system may start to falter and need to be repaired. Maybe it’s time to trade it in to McFarland Chevrolet and find a great value on a new or used car. That said, if your vehicle is older, you may need your air conditioning system renewed with either an AC compressor or some refrigerant to help cooler air come out of your vents. If your air conditioning isn’t quite cold enough, call or stop by our service department to get your system checked. Our qualified technicians can help diagnose any issues.

2: Replace Your Cabin Air Filter
An often overlooked maintenance item is a car’s cabin air filter. The cabin air filter filters out various allergens, dirt, and debris from the air conditioning system. Some cars have them hidden under a plastic cover under the hood, just under the windshield, while others have them around the footwell or under the glove compartment in your car. Changing this filter can help with various odors inside your vehicle, making your AC system run more smoothly and efficiently.

3: Let Your Car Get To Operating Temp Before Using Max AC
On a hot day, your car’s interior will take longer to cool. To help cool your car’s interior more efficiently, leave the max AC button turned off and then use the outside air circulation button. This ensures your vehicle is getting all of the humidity out of your air conditioning system. From there, you can turn on the max AC button and turn on the interior recirculation mode to keep the system nice and chilly.
