The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Have the Best Space for Third Row Passengers

The family that travels together is a happy one. This is true for those of us who live in the Upper Ohio Valley. In order for us to reach our destination – even places far away – we need a spacious and comfortable place to enjoy the journey.  

Chevrolet offers a variety of SUVs with a standard third-row seating option. They offer the space you need to carry up to nine people and their things anywhere. The question you may have is which one of these three-row SUVs would work best for your family.  

In a recent article in U.S. News and World Report, the 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban were listed as two of the SUVs that offered the most third-row seating space. Both of these large SUVs are definitely at the top of everyone’s list for family transportation. They both offer the space you need for passengers and a large cargo hold to carry everything from camping equipment to sports bags.  

U.S. News and World Report said that the 2026 Tahoe “seats eight people in its standard layout, and the optional front-row bench seat ups capacity to nine; additionally, second-row captain’s chairs are available that drop capacity to seven. The first two rows provide plenty of room for stretching out, and the third row is comfortable for adults, with 34.9 inches of legroom.” 

In addition, the 2026 Tahoe’s cargo hold can carry 25.5 cubic feet of luggage or shopping behind the third row. Once you fold down the third and second seats, the space expands to 122.7 cubic feet.  

If you need more space for people and everything else, the 2026 Suburban delivers a maximum experience. U.S. News and World Report said that it’s “relaxed ride and outstanding passenger and cargo room help make it one of the best large SUVs you can buy. The cabin offers tremendous versatility, with layouts that seat seven, eight, or nine people. The legroom in front is class-leading, and the second row is also pretty spacious. Even passengers who are 6 feet or taller will be comfortable in this SUV’s third row, which provides a 36.7 inches of legroom.” 

However, 2026 Suburban customers will appreciate the enormous space available for cargo. With all three rows up, there is 41.5 cubic feet available – more than any other SUV. That volume expands to 144.5 cubic feet with the third and second row seats folded down.  

Both the 2026 Tahoe and Suburban offer a choice of powertrains that will take you and your family further on the road. With two powerful V8s and the low-end grunt from the Duramax in-line six-cylinder turbocharged diesel, either one will deliver exceptional towing power and great fuel efficiency. The Duramax is capable of a fuel range of 728 miles.
