2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss

For its 2024 mid-cycle update, Chevrolet added the ZR2 to the Silverado HD Lineup for the first time. For 2025, the Trail Boss will be added to the lineup for those who want off-road chops for their HD but without the investment level of the ZR2. McFarland Chevrolet tells you what we know about the new Silverado 2500 HD Trail Boss.

Available in both LT and LTZ Trims

The 2025 Silverado HD Trail Boss will have standard 4-wheel drive and be available as a variant of both the LT and LTZ trims. That puts it squarely in the middle of the lineup with the WT and Custom trims below and the ZR2 and High Country trims above. As with the LT and LTZ trim levels, the standard engine will be the 6.6-liter gas V8, which produces 401 horsepower and LB-ft of torque. The 6.6-liter Duramax Diesel V8 is optional, which cranks out 470 horsepower and has a stump-pulling 975 lb-ft of torque. Both engines have their power controlled through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Standard Z71 Package

The Trail Boss will come standard with the Z71 Off-Road Package currently available on the LT and LTZ, which presently consists of:

  • Off-road suspension with Rancho™ twin tube shocks
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Skid plates for all the vulnerable areas underneath
  • 17-inch LT265/70R17E All-Terrain black wall spare tire

As opposed to the spare tire, images indicate the Trail Boss’s everyday shoes will be 20-inch 6-split-spoke black wheels with BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. The images also indicate red recovery hooks and the current Dark Essentials Package, which features a black finish for both the 2500 HD badge and front bowtie emblem on the grill, with the addition of “Z71” badges on the front fenders and “Trail Boss” appliques on the bed sides and tailgate. There is presently no indication of any changes to the interior beyond what is provided by the LT and LTZ trims.

Other 2025 Silverado 2500 HD Changes

Because the Silverado HD had such an extensive refresh for the 2024 model year, other changes for the 2025 model are relatively few. WT, Custom, and LT trims will now be available with Front and Rear Park Assist, which will become standard on the ZR2. The aforementioned Dark Essentials Package will now be available on the Custom grade. The High Country Trim will have standard adaptive cruise control and a new 20-inch wheel design for the Midnight Edition Package.

The 2025 Silverado HD Trail Boss models can be expected to appear in the McFarland Chevrolet inventory in the summer of 2024. Prices and any additional features will be announced closer to the launch time.
