With a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine that puts out 670 horsepower and helps the car get to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, the Z06 is more than just a set of numbers on a page. It’s a supercar that battles the best from Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, and the like for roughly half or a third of the cost. The C8 Corvette Z06 is a relative bargain compared to what it can do and how fast it actually is.

Best Car To Buy 2024

For their annual Best Car To Buy challenge for 2024, MotorAuthority took roughly 25 new or updated luxury and performance cars, trucks, and SUVs, and chose just 5 of the bunch to be named the site’s best of the best. The official winner will be announced on January 3, 2024. One of the five cars they chose was the 2024 Corvette Z06.

MotorAuthority Evaluation

When speaking about why they chose the Z06, MotorAuthority said, “The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 finally gives the C8 the powertrain the chassis deserves. The LT6 is an exotic engine—a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 with a flat-plane crank—to match an exotic mid-engine design. It sounds and revs gloriously. We also discussed whether the new electrified AWD Corvette E-Ray should be the Corvette contender, but its limited electric range (3-5 miles) and the special character of the LT6 meant the Z06 won out.”

Performance Above All

The Z06 features a 5.5-liter V8 that produces 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque that puts power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Chevrolet says the Z06 has a top speed of 189 mph. At Car and Driver’s annual Lightning Lap in 2023, the all-new Z06 posted the fifth fastest lap time they have ever recorded at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), and the fastest lap of any naturally-aspirated car they’ve ever run. The cars that were faster are in the hypercar category and way more expensive. With a base MSRP of $112,700, the 8th generation Corvette Z06 is a super-super car for the money.
