The McFarland family has deep roots in the automotive industy and local communities of West Union, Ohio and Maysville, Kentucky. Barry McFarland opened his dealership in 1959 in West Union, Ohio at the age of 18. Barry operated this Ford Mercury dealership until December of 1979. In January of 1980, Barry changed his existing dealership over to a Chevrolet Olds Buick dealership and it became Barry's Chevrolet Olds Buick. This was the start of what has become a family tradition of quality sales and service at two dealerships. Both of Barry's sons, Brett and Bradlee decided to follow in their father's footsteps and started working at Barry's as soon as they could talk. Brett and Bradlee learned this business from the ground up by working in every department. Barry believes that to run a business you need to know the inner workings and complexities of each area that your business focuses on.
In 1983, the Massy Brothers Dealership on US 68 in Maysville, Kentucky was purchased by the McFarland family and became McFarland Chevrolet Olds Pontiac Buick Cadillac. Brett McFarland became the youngest Chevrolet dealer in America and has been at the helm of this dealership since the beginning. In late 1984 the dealership moved to the old Charlie Holland Dealership building on Kenton Station Road. This was the home of McFarland Chevrolet Olds Pontiac Buick Cadillac for close to ten years. During that time, plans were underway for the construction of the building where the dealership now resides. In 1993 the dealership moved into that newly constructed, state of the art facility at 609 Martin Luther King Jr. Hwy (AA Hwy.) in Maysville, Kentucky. In less than 2 years McFarland Chevrolet Buick will be celebrating it's 30th Anniversay.
